COMMON QUESTIONS
-
A Focused Diagnostic is about figuring out what’s actually happening before deciding what to do about it. I look at the evidence, identify the issues that matter most, and give you a clear point of view on where to focus next.
A Strategic Project goes further. We’re solving a defined problem and building the strategy, framework, or plan your team needs to move it forward.
Sometimes a Diagnostic leads to a Strategic Project. Sometimes it doesn’t. The point is to recommend what makes sense based on what we find, not automatically create more work.
-
Possibly, but only where it helps us understand the problem.
Depending on what we’re diagnosing, I may review things like marketing plans, performance data, website analytics, campaign materials, sales tools, customer or channel information, existing research, or other relevant work. I may also talk with a small number of key stakeholders.
We’ll decide together what’s actually useful. I’m not interested in asking your team to pull together a mountain of information we don’t need.
-
We’ll work through the findings together so you understand what I’m seeing, why it matters, and what I believe deserves attention first.
You’ll leave with prioritized issues, practical recommendations, and a clearer path forward. That may mean your team can take it from there. It may point to a Strategic Project or Senior Advisory relationship. Or it may reveal that the smartest next step is something else entirely.
The Diagnostic is valuable on its own. There’s no expectation that it has to turn into a larger engagement.
-
Most Focused Diagnostics are designed to move fairly quickly, typically over two to three weeks.
The exact timing depends on the question we’re trying to answer, the evidence involved, and stakeholder availability. We’ll define the scope and timeline before we begin so everyone knows what to expect.
-
The investment depends on the scope of the Diagnostic and what we need to examine to answer the question responsibly.
After an initial conversation, I’ll recommend the appropriate scope and provide a clear fee before any work begins. No open-ended hours or surprise invoices.
Not sure whether you need a Diagnostic? That’s completely fine. You don’t need to figure out the engagement before we talk. Start a conversation, tell me what’s happening, and we’ll determine the most sensible next step.
